All in the family: Meet Pheetta King, HR Manager and Accountant

Joined: December 2005

When Pheetta was hired as the accounts payable manager, she immediately felt like part of the family.

“We were a small company back then, and over the years, my co-workers have become my good friends,” says Pheetta, who oversees employee benefits in addition to her accounting duties.

“I've always loved numbers, and I like working at General Tools because there's something new to learn every day.”

During the pandemic, Pheetta stepped in to support and assist many of GT’s essential workers, keeping them up to date on their employee benefits and insurance coverage while helping them work safely.

Pheetta is grateful to two of her former GT supervisors who mentored her while championing her skills.

“Paul Schlesinger, who was my controller, taught me a lot in accounting and trained me so I could move up,” she recalls. “And Cindy Pagano, who was my HR manager, strongly recommended that I take her place when she retired, which I really appreciated.”

There are two GT tools Pheetta uses every day that she says make her life easier.

“One is the Pocket-Sized 4-in-1 Mini Screwdriver, which looks like a pen and has two different screwdriver heads. I keep that in my pocketbook at all times, because it’s perfect when the screws in your glasses get loose,” says Pheetta.

“The other thing I use all the time is the  Handsfree Lighted Magnifier; I keep it right at my bedside.”

Pheetta’s favorite fun fact about General Tools:

“We were the first in the United States to manufacture the egg slicer!”
