On my pinless moisture meter, what materials can be measured with each measurement mode (Wall, Masonry, Hardwood, Softwood)?

Choosing the Hardwood or Softwood mode depends solely on the species of wood. For example, oak is a hardwood and pine is a softwood. Keep in mind that manufactured "woods" (such as plywood, pressed wood, particle board, and OSB) are not considered wood for the purposes of this meter. You would use the Wall mode for those. The Wall mode would also be for materials such as drywall and carpeting. The Masonry mode would be used for brick, mortar, plaster, and tile. These moisture meters will not work on concrete though.
